211 answers your calls starting today
Quebec, Thursday May 1st, 2008 - the 211 community service is officially launched in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions. 211 is a free telephone number that gives easy access to a multitude of community services and resources.
Using a database with over 2000 community resources, the 211 specialists give out phone numbers to get in touch with the right service.
No call transfers: it is the caller’s responsibility to write down the phone number and to call the community resources themselves. 211 is not an emergency service or an intervention and help line. 211 is a reference service, in other words, a database that regroups community resources and services made available to the population.
